Instructor: Marshall Biever Level: Beginner through intermediate (but some musical experience is required - no theory knowledge necessary) Ages:: 13 to 100 (10-12 Week Curriculum) Duration: 1 hour Class Schedule (day of the week/time): 12 week session Thursdays 5-6PM 8/13, 8/20, 8/27, 9/3, 9/10, 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8. 10/15, 10/22, 10/29 Price: $100 for four classes ($25 a class) Description: This is a course for understanding how to use theory as a tool for complimenting writing your own songs, improvising and learning new songs by ear quickly - without compromising feel or musical integrity. What you’ll learn: Solfege (Do Re Mi syllables) for learning music by ear faster, and being able to replicate the music you hear in your head. How chords and scales and songs are structured and how they apply to popular styles of music including country, folk, blues, bluegrass, pop and rock so that you can use them in your own music. We'll also learn the theory behind important rhythms, how rhythm defines genre and how to apply them intentionally to your own music. We'll learn how to use straightforward theory terms to communicate what you're playing to other musicians.
