Jims' Biography
Jims Hinkle is a native Staunton musician with over 22 years of experience in live music performance. His musical journey began at the age of 11, when he started playing trombone and eventually tuba before discovering his love for the guitar and electric bass. During high school, he participated in both symphonic and jazz bands while also honing his understanding of music theory. At just 14 years old, Jims formed his first cover band, igniting a lifelong passion for performance across a wide array of genres, including rock, folk, bluegrass, funk, progressive rock, and even a touch of heavy metal. In 2009, Jims started playing the upright bass, further expanding musical interests. Since early 2013, Jims has been the bass player for The Judy Chops, touring and bringing the folk and funk to the stage, while holding down the bottom end and adding layers of melody and vibrant touches to each song. Jims is excited to share his knowledge and passion for music with aspiring guitar, electric bass, and upright bass players at Queen City Music Studios. Offering beginner to intermediate guitar classes, and beginner to advanced electric bass and upright bass lessons, Jims will strive for a welcome, relaxing, engaging and fun learning environment.
